What is the CE marking for?

It is issued by the Sicily Region, Department of Productive Activities, when dealing with foods containing meat.

The CE marking must necessarily be affixed to a product when a community directive or regulation requires it; if correctly affixed, it gives the product the right to free circulation throughout the EU territory.

Regulation (EC) No. 853/2004 of 29 April 2004 establishes specific hygiene rules for foods of animal origin. In the case of products containing fresh or minced meat, as in the case of our arancini, the CE marking demonstrates that the product has been manufactured with meat obtained from selected slaughterhouses and laboratories.
